Sheremeta: Implementation of farming, co-operation concept development will create new jobs

27.03.2018 16:59 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — As of yesterday, while speaking within a seminar «Actual problems of rural development, ways of their solution» within Severodonetsk, Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Victor Sheremeta said implementation of the Concept of Development of Farm Economies and Agricultural Cooperatives for 2018–2020 is an instrument of ensuring of the sustainable economic growth of rural communities through the development of agrarian entrepreneurship - since the majority of people living within the Ukrainian rural areas are engaged within agriculture, with over 90% of all producers being the small producers, farmers and individual households, Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reports. «The policy of rural development is aimed at improving the quality of life and economic well-being of the rural population, in particular, through the rise of the employment within the rural areas. In pursuance of these tasks, a Concept was developed that provides for the main areas of financial support as: livestock, horticulture, cheapening of loans and support of cooperation,» Sheremeta emphasized. As to Sheremeta, the expected results of the implementation of the Concept include the boost of the share of farm economies within the Ukrainian total agricultural gross output up to 12%, the rise of the the number of cooperatives by 40–50 units (presently 1,125 cooperatives are registered within Ukraine, of which 610 are functioning really), an enlargement of the area of agricultural land under cultivation of the organic products by 10%, a boost of cattle number at the farm economies by 2.5%, an enlargement of the areas of perennial plants at the farm economies by 15% and a number of other similar factors.
