Azarov thanks World Bank for 2012-2016 partnership strategy

Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, during his meeting with a World Bank delegation, expressed his gratitude to the World Bank for the approval of its strategy for cooperation with Ukraine in 2012–2016.
«I want to thank the World Bank for approving the 2012–2016 Country Partnership Strategy for Ukraine. We also welcome the decision to open a credit line for energy savings and are grateful for the decision to grant an additional loan of $150 million for the Ukrainian exports development project,» Azarov said. He added that the government supports the initiative of the World Bank on the preparation in 2013–2014 of investment projects in the real economy. The Prime Minister noted that joint road construction projects are successfully implemented. He stressed that the priority projects of cooperation between Ukraine and the World Bank in the years of 2012–2016 will be those to finance the agro-industrial complex, engineering and energy conservation. In turn, Vice-President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia, Philippe Le Houerou thanked the Ukrainian government for the first in 20 years record use of the credited money. In March, the funds were used by 18%, and this is not even the end of the year, he said, adding, usually Ukraine uses 7–8%, and such things do not occur on their own. At the same time, he said he was pleased with the macroeconomic situation in Ukraine, in particular, the GDP growth of 5.2% last year and lower inflation. The World Bank’s vice-president said that the bank supports the reforms taking place in Ukraine. He expressed full support for the reform strategy of the Ukrainian President, noting now the main thing is to continue implementing reforms, and the WB help thus will be calibrated depending on the reform pace. He noted that 2012 will be quite a difficult year for the world economy, and therefore it is necessary to concentrate the Ukrainian authority’s efforts to achieve positive macroeconomic indicators.
