Azarov: Development of science is a major condition for Ukraine's modernization

Prime Minister Mykola Azarov believes that the most important condition for the modernization of Ukraine is the development of science, both fundamental and applied, he said at a ceremony of presenting state awards in science and technology.
«The government pays and will pay close attention to the development of science, engineering and advanced technologies. We see in this as the most important condition for the modernization of our country,» Mykola Azarov declared, ForUm learned from the Cabinet’s press office.
At the same time, the PM underlined that with the help of science it is necessary to solve the problem of increasing energy efficiency introducing energy saving technologies and alternative fuel sources. According to him, it is also important to promote scientific researches in the field of medicine, in particular implementation of advanced methods of diagnostic and treatment.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov has urged scientists to focus on finding new directions of science development, in which Ukraine can take a leading position in the world.
Azarov noted that the government provides incentives to attract young people to research activities. «Now the youth and middle-aged generation started doing business, and as a result we have a gap. Whom are we going to transfer scientific achievements? Who will develop our science in the future? For our scientists really have much to be proud of and have much to offer for development. We will do everything to eliminate this gap and provide incentives for young people to work in science,» the head of government underscored.
