Ukrainian potato prices down 14%

18.02.2019 11:07 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — Since the last week beginning, the Ukrainian domestic market potato prices declined 14% against previous week similar, Ukrinform says referring to the East-Fruit report. As to the report, now, within the Ukrainian main potato cultivation regions, the domestic market potato sale prices range within UAH5–7 / kg (US$0.18–0.26 / kg), depending on the quality. As to the report, many agrarians tell about owning considerable unsold potato reserves. However, at same time, this domestic market segment trading activity remains rather slack. So, in order to stimulate the domestic market potato demand and sell off their reserves, agrarians have started declining their potato sell prices. However, at same time, some experts admit the domestic market potato trade activity slackening can be also explained with the fact of most potato lots being of a rather low quality.
