Sheremeta: Gov to compensate to farmers for part of their seeds expenditures

22.02.2018 15:11 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — As of yesterday, while speaking within the opening of the Seed Forum 2018, Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Victor Sheremeta said the compensation of the expenditures of the Ukrainian breed seeds to the domestic agrarians is one of the directions of the domestic farming State support program, Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reports. As to Sheremeta, this initiative will make it possible to support both domestic agrarians (who will be compensated their expenditures to) as well as domestic seeds producers «The seed industry is an important component of the development of the agro-industrial complex. Seed selection and genetics are factors which assure domestic grains high yields, gross crop and export. Thus, in order to develop this industry, make it competitive and, at the same time, to support small-scale farmers, the government will provide compensation for the purchase of seed material,» Sheremeta admitted. It is to be admitted, though the Gov hasn’t so far finished elaborating the mechanism for subsidies’ provision, the domestic farmers can already now buy the Ukrainian certified seeds to obtain the due compensation.
