Poroshenko: Malta can become a powerful maritime hub for Ukraine

As of today, within his state visit to the Republic of Malta, and within the joint press conference with the President of Malta, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said he is confident that Malta can become a hub for Ukrainian agrarians to supply products to North Africa and open new opportunities for the Ukrainian metallurgic industry, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to the report, he also informed on Ukraine being eager to launch an Antonov office in Malta that will substantially facilitate development of the Ukrainian aviation industry.
As to the report, Poroshenko especially underlined the importance of interpersonal contacts that are currently being facilitated.
Besides, Poroshenko also noted that signature of a series of documents planned for the visit will open «wonderful opportunities for students, youth, cooperation in the sphere of sports and business».
As to the report, within the meeting the parties discussed a whole range of mutually important issues that create new opportunities for the two countries at the state level and the level of interpersonal relations.
In her turn, President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca noted that the parties discussed concrete steps on business cooperation between Ukraine and Malta.
«Our countries have huge opportunities to develop entrepreneurship in various spheres, in particular infrastructure and maritime transport,» the President of Malta noted.
At the same time, she drew attention to the opportunities of cooperation between Ukraine, as an eastern European country, and Africa with Malta’s participation in the role of a powerful maritime hub.
«We also didn’t come empty-handed,» the Ukrainian President said and added that the Ukrainian delegation brought a whole range of offers as regards Ukraine-Malta joint business projects within various spheres.
As to Poroshenko, settlement of the issue of double taxation between our countries opens new opportunities for the further enhancement of trade and investment cooperation with Malta.
The Ukrainian President underlined great interest of Ukraine within «European Capital of Culture 2018 - City of Valetta» project.
As to the report, the Ukrainian President invited the President of Malta to visit Ukraine at her convenience.
