Ukraine: agrarians have sown early grains at 2.3 mn ha

18.04.2016 18:13 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — As of 18.04.2016, Ukrainian agrarians have sown early grains at 2.3 mn ha (92% of total planned), up against 2.0 mn hectares in 2015 similar, incl.: wheat - at 156,000 ha or 90% (2015 - 133,000 ha), barley - at 1.7 mn ha or 90% (2015 - 1.5 mn ha), oats - at 204,000 ha or 94% (2015 - 200,000 ha) and peas - at 217,000 ha or 113% (2015 - 165,000 ha), Government Portal says referring to the Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food report. As to the report, the largest sown areas are in Dnipropetrovsk region - 221,400 ha (88% of total planned), Kharkiv region - 210,600 ha (90%), Zaporizhzhia region - 186,400 ha (93%), Kherson region - 148,000 ha (86%), Odesa region - 138,200 ha (101%) and Mykolayiv region - 136,100 ha (91%). As to the Ministry, the sugar beets have been sown at 259,000 ha (96% of total planned), up against 170,000 ha in 2015 similar, sunflowers - at 1.6 mn ha or 32% (2015 - 475,000 ha). As to the report, the maize (for grain) has been sown at 907,000 ha (20% of total planned), up against 120,000 ha in 2015 similar). Besides, the soybeans have been sown at 132,000 ha (7% of total planned).
