Ukrainian small and medium business to benefit from the EU program COSME with EUR2.3 milliard budget

As of Jan 13, Cabinet approved a draft agreement on Ukraine’s participation in the EU program «Competitiveness of the enterprises of small and medium enterprises (COSME)». The Ukrainian Minister of Economic Development and Trade Aivaras Abromavicius was commissioned to sign in short time this important document on behalf of the Ukrainian Government with representatives of the European Union, Government Portal reports.
As to the report, Abromavicius noted: «With the start of year free trade area between Ukraine and the EU has taken effect in full. We, on equal terms, are joining the EU program of development of small and medium businesses COSME. It provides a number of additional opportunities for the Ukrainian small and medium-sized enterprises. Firstly, it is assistance to access the EU market through consultations and training programs, and secondly, the possibility to find partners in the EU through the access to an extensive network of contacts, including investment and venture funds. Now the main thing is to use all the potential.»
It is to be admitted, the COSME is the EU program for the Competitiveness of Enterprises and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises running within 2014 - 2020 with a planned budget of EUR2.3 milliard. It stipulates a practical implementation of principles of SmallBusinessActforEurope and aims to promote entrepreneurship and improve the business environment for SMEs.
