Ebola outbreak in West Africa "most complex" crisis

The Ebola outbreak in West Africa is an extremely complex and difficult crisis, UN Radio says referring to the Head of the UN Mission for Ebola Emergency Response (UNMEER) report.
As to report, on Thursday Anthony Banbury was in Liberia, where he visited Lofa County’s treatment centre in the north of the country.
Besides, he also met with senior government officials, civil society, NGOs, and the UN peacekeeping mission to assess their needs.
As to the latest figures from the World Health Organization, the total number of cases in the current Ebola outbreak is now 7,178, with 3,338 reported deaths.
Mr. Banbury said he has had a long career in emergency crisis management, but this Ebola crisis is different.
« I’ve heard many people say what I feel, that this is the most complex, difficult crisis that any of us have seen in our careers. There are very complex health issues, there are important requirements to work very closely with communities down at the very small village level, and speed is absolutely urgent,‘» Mr. Banbury admitted.
It is to be said, Australia’s announcement of an additional contribution of US$10 million to the international response to the Ebola crisis has been welcomed by the UN.
In meanwhile, the Special Envoy on Ebola, Dr. David Nabarro, said it was exactly the kind of quick and effective response the UN is asking of Member States given the complexity and scale of the crisis.
