Association Agreement is beneficial for both Ukraine and the EU. It was stated by the President at the meeting with media representatives in Tallinn today, President Viktor Yanukovych Press Office reports.
«I am confident that the Association Agreement meets our common interests first of all in the context of further modernization of Ukraine on the basis of European values and standards,» the Head of State noted.
According to Viktor Yanukovych, Ukraine will feel practical benefits of interaction with the EU soon after the signature of the FTA Agreement which is a part of the Association Agreement.
«We expect, inter alia, the introduction of deep and comprehensive FTA that will allow both Ukrainians and Europeans feeling practical benefits of interaction between Ukraine and the EU in a completely new format,» he said.
Viktor Yanukovych stressed that the signature of the Association Agreement at the Summit in Vilnius was the key task for Ukraine.
According to him, Ukraine is willing to implement some provisions of the Agreement right after the signature.
In his turn, Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves noted that the FTA Agreement would allow Ukraine entering the huge and stable market of 500 million consumers. «In addition, the agreement will be signed in a time of economic recovery in the EU which is already an important trade partner for Ukraine,» he said.
«A broad consensus of political parties of Ukraine on the integration with the EU adds force to your expectations and convinces Europe that Ukrainian choice of the future is deliberate and the best for your country and people,» he added.
