VR to curtail agrarians only tax payers electric power tariffs

01.07.2005 09:01 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — Verkhovna Rada is going to low electric power tariffs for agricultural companies fixed agricultural tax payers down to rural population electric power tariffs/cancel electricity consumption exceeding five-times penalty payments. Draft Law has been backed up in first reading by 237 deputies (with 226 necessary), As to draft Law explanatory note, after National Commission for Electric Power Regulation having cancelled agricultural producers preferential tariffs in Dec 2001, Agrarian-Industrial Complex companies tariffs have boosted " twice within 2002. E xplanatory note as well informs presently agricultural producers in case of contract amount electricity consumption exceeding are paying to electric power suppliers factually consumed/contract amount electricity consumption difference five-times penalty. Electricity high tariffs/penalties have caused agricultural products cost price growth. Reportedly, earlier Cabinet declared intention to curtail agrarians electric power tariffs down 20%. In Apr National Commission for Electric Power Regulation has grown electricity wholesale price up UAH0.42/kwh (+ 3%), to UAH0.14.4/kwh.
