Ukrzaliznytsia to low down 2005/2006 grain transport tariffs

Administration Ukrzaliznytsia is going to curtail 2005/2006 cargo (in
part. grain) transportation tariffs in order to get more profits, reported
Viktor Chorniy, Ukrzaliznytsia Main Commercial Administration Chairman
First Deputy.
As to Chorniy, tariffs revising/optimizing decision is
motivated with Ukrzaliznytsia trying to boost its profits/successfully
compete with cargo motor transport companies.
Chorniy added presently he can’t precise how much foods
(incl.grain) transportation tariffs will be changed.
Chorniy made it known after Apr 6 cargo transport
tariffs growth Ukrzaliznytsia started executing cargo transportation
monitoring, with Apr-Jun monitoring results/Ukrzaliznytsia further
tariffs policy suggestions to be presented to Cabinet.
Speaking with Agro Perspective representative Chorniy
remarked Government Decree has equaled domestic/export grain shipments
costs, resulting in present grain railway transportation expenditures
having reached UAH90–91/t.
Until Apr grain railway transportation expenditures
were UAH64/t.
As earlier reported, Ukrzaliznytsia had boosted cargo (incl. foods)
transport tariffs since Apr 6, 00.00 (due to Cabinet Decree № 91-ð from
Apr 1). In part., 2 class goods (grain: 011–018) transportation payment
calculations started to be carried out due to Tariffs Catalogue with
2.615 (instead of previous 1.743) coefficient.
As to Agrarika Ltd experts, 2004/2005 grain export will reach 10.4 million tons.
2003/04 MY (Jul 2003-Jun 2004 ) grain export fell to 2.74 million
tons, down 8.01 million tons (- 75%) as of 2002/03 MY.
2004 grain crop totaled 41.809 million tons (up against 20.2 million
tons in 2003).
