Agrarians started 2004-crop grain remainders active selling to assure

01.04.2005 08:46 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — Agricultural companies have started active selling of last year crop grain remainders in order to provide springtime field works with necessary financial resources, reported Agrarika Ltd experts referring to grain market participants. «Last week domestic grain market situation has changed due to temperature rise; prolonged winter delayed grain remainders „emergency dumping“. Due to sowing campaign having begun in Southern regions, grain holders have started active selling of good quality food wheat, — which they have been restraining from selling up to the last moment,» said Olena Starostenko, Agrarika Ltd expert. Starostenko added presently agrarians can’t sell grain at high prices due to prices having started falling owing to market supply growth. «Present market situation is just contrary to previous one, - end Mar unsold wheat stocks are big, wheat purchase price is down, that’s why agricultural producers are selling flour wheat at prices bidden by purchasers,» said Starostenko. As to State Statistics Committee, agrarians early Mar grain reserves were 4.789 million tons (wheat — 1.579 million tons), while Mar 1, 2004 grain reserves were 2.418 million tons (wheat — 0.24 million tons). As earlier reported, this year springtime field works financial resources requirement is UAH10 milliard; as of Mar 18, agrarians have attracted ?UAH1 milliard credits.
