Yushchenko commissioned Cabinet to join WTO in Feb

12.01.2008 14:41 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — As to Oleksandr Chaliy, Deputy Head of the Presidential Secretariat Jan 11 briefing declaration, President Viktor Yushchenko has commissioned Cabinet to make all possible to complete Ukraine WTO joining process within this Feb.

As to Chaliy, President gave this charge within meeting with Premier Yuliya Tymoshenko and Verkhovna Rada Chairman Arseniy Yatseniuk on Jan 10.

“Definite instructions were given to make all possible to complete Ukraine WTO joining process within this Feb,” said Chaliy.

Chaliy added Ukrainian working delegation (headed by Vice-Premier Grygoriy Nemyria) is expected to visit Brussels (Belgium) Jan 14-20 to discuss/settle all differences of Ukrainian/EU export duties problem.

“I am firmly convinced EU problem will be solved in next 10 days. All other problems have already been settled,” said Chaliy.

It is to be reminded, Ukrainian delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Economics Valeriy Piatnytskiy was initially scheduled to visit Brussels (Belgium) Jan 14-20 to hold Ukraine WTO joining talks.

Yushchenko is convinced Ukraine will enter WTO until Mar 2008. Cabinet is going to submit to VR package of documents in Jan assuring Ukraine WTO free joining.

As to Agro Perspective earlier report, early Dec 2007 WTO delayed Ukrainian WTO joining application examination until Dec 20, 2007 mainly due to Ukrainian/EU export duties problem remaining unsolved.
