Cabinet likely to cancel wheat export quotas

As to Yuriy Melnyk, Minister of Agrarian Policy, Wed briefing report, Ukrainian Cabinet is going to consider wheat export quotas abolishment possibility.
Melnyk said Government has fulfilled all promises given to country grain traders (incl. Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA)/Ukrainian Farmers Association).
«We have promised to cancel feed grains export restrictions, — and now these restrictions are cancelled. Presently we ship out feed grains, — feed barley and feed maize,» emphasized Minister.
Melnyk made it known wheat export quotas removal possibility will be discussed on corresponding meeting which Viktor Slauta, Ukrainian Agrarian-Industrial Complex Vice-Premier, will hold with Ministry of Agrarian Policy, Ministry of Economics and grain traders representatives. This problem, said Melnyk, will be regulated after «thorough analysis of country wheat sown areas balance and condition.»
Melnyk expressed hope Cabinet will reach agreement with UGA/Farmers Association on this matter.
Within briefing Melnyk also made comments on some agricultural associations forecasts on country sown areas possible shortening. He said this year springtime field works condition proves that agrarians enjoy quite a favorable grains market conjuncture and therefore sow grains at all «land areas they have» and, besides, «within this year agrarians are provided with more resources as in last year.»
It is to be reminded, Dec 2006 Ukraine imposed grains export quotas to be efficient till this MY (Jul/06-Jun/07) end: as of Dec 8, 2006, Cabinet issued corresponding Decree «About
