Dnipropetrivsk region agrarians to sow spring grains at 558,000 ha in 2007

20.03.2007 13:56 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — As to Dnipropetrivsk region State Administration Chairman press-service, this year regional agrarians are going to sow spring grains at 558,000 ha (industrial spring crops — at 526,000 ha). As to press-service, regional purpose-oriented programs stipulate this year grains production is to reach 2.75 mn MT (sunseeds — 560,000 MT, sugar beet — 480,000 MT, potatoes — 520,000 MT). Press-service says Grain Growing Institute experts affirm after wintering period (characterized with long-time frost absence/rains) all winter crops are slackened and miss early spring nourishment. Therefore, agrarians consider their main task is to treat winter crops sown areas and have already performed winter crops active nitric fertilizing at 160,000 ha. As to Agro Perspective earlier report, Dnipropetrivsk region agrarians have purchased 65,000 MT mineral fertilizers (60% of total necessary 98,000 MT), 100,000 MT seeding material (116% necessary) and 25,000 MT diesel fuel (60% necessary). As to Agro Perspective, regional tractors fleet/agricultural equipment readiness is 98% (as of Mar 15).
