Greece plans to convert sugar factories for manufacture of ethanol.

On given minselkhoza the USA, by the current moment a biodiesel engine in Greece make 4 enterprises. 6 more will begin work the nearest 3 years. From them the largest factory will be started in 2008 g, the total sum of investments into its(his) construction will make 10 million euro, and capacity(power) will reach(achieve) 50 million ½/year. The government of Greece gives to manufacturers of biodiesel fuel tax privileges. In 2005 in the country it has been let out(it has been released) only 3 million l this fuel, and in 2006 - already 73 million l from which 41 million l it has been realized. It is expected, that in 2007 the government will resolve preferential distribution 114 million t a biodiesel engine. The government of Greece plans to address in Eurocommission with the request to allow to convert two of five Greek factories on manufacture of sugar in the enterprises on release of ethanol. The purpose of this project is rendering support to manufacture of a sugar cane and sugar in the country. If this plan will be approved, Greece will use about 50 % of the quota on a sugar beet on release specified by two factories of biofuel. Their total capacity(power) will make 120 million l for what 80 thousand t a sugar beet will be used nearby, 53 thousand t treacles and 265 thousand t grain. Greece plans to increase a share of consumption of biofuel up to 2010 up to 5,75 %. However, due to own raw material the country can provide performance of this parameter only on third, therefore its(his) import should increase essentially.
