Ukrtsukor forecasts 2006 sugar beet crop will reach 20.6 mn MT

Association Ukrtsukor forecasts this year country sugar beet crop will hit 20.6 mn MT, up 5.1 mn MT against 2005, reported Myckola Yarchuk, Ukrtsukor Director.

Yarchuk made it known this year sugar plants are expected to receive in total 18.2 mn MT sugar beet (acceptance weight) to be processed, up 3.28 mn MT as of 2005.

As to him, this year country sugar processing plants are supposed to process 17.5 mn MT sugar beet, up 3.07 mn MT against 2005.

As to Ukrtsukor earlier forecast, country 2006 sugar beet crop will total 20–21 mn MT.

Ukrtsukor had raised this year sugar (produced from 2006 crop beet) output forecast from 2.06 mn MT up to 2.135 mn MT.

As to State Statistics Committee data, Ukrainian Jun 1, 2006 sugar beet sown areas totaled 821,100 ha, up 21.8% as of Jun 1, 2005.

As to Committee, Ukrainian 2005 sugar beet gross crop had declined to 15.6 mn MT (down 5.9% against 2004), with sugar beet average yielding capacity equaling to 249,7 metric centners per ha.
