Groisman: We invite Latvian business to invest into different spheres, from agro-sector to space technologies

As of last week, while on a working vist to Latvia, and while spekeing on a meeting with the Latvian busness circles, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groisman said the policy of reforms introduced by the Ukrainian Government allows to expand the country economic potential and attract investments into a wide range of spheres - from agro-sector to space technologies, Government Portal reports.
«Today we are going along the the path of out country modernization. The situation is changing. Within eight consecutive quarters, we face an economy growth. As to the forecasts, we will receive 3% growth this year. But this does not correspond to our potential, we can grow 5% or more per year,» Groisman admitted.
As to the report, the meeting participants stressed that Ukraine and Latvia could significantly strengthen their interaction, both at the bilateral level and on the international arena. «Our mutual trade with Latvia is growing - we are approaching the figure of US$500 million. But this figure can be still higher,» he said.
In turn, within the meeting, the Latvian busness circles’ representatives underlined that trade is only a part of the cooperation. Thus, the leaders of the Latvian agrarian and cosmetics companies expressed their being eager to further develop those joint ventures that are already operating within Ukraine and, besides, to create new companies, whose ready products can be brought to the markets of third countries. Besides, serious prospects were underlined within the use of joint transit facilities, namely, cargo handling from the ports of the Black Sea to the Baltic ports. So, the businessmen are certain that the two countries can become important chains of the global project «New Silk Road».
As to the report, the heads of the companies additionally emphasized the need for the employees’ training and so, they said, the cooperation within education (mainly within engineering and production professions) was already on time.
