Poroshenko: Constitutional reform is the most important for Ukraine

As of today, while speaking at the unity congress of BPP «Solidarity» and «UDAR» parties, the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko touched upon the necessity of introduction of constitutional amendments on decentralization and urged the Parliament to adopt these amendments,

As to the report, the President called the date of Aug 31 very important. On that day, the Parliament will vote for the draft amendments to the constitution on decentralization.
Reportedly, the Head of State emphasized that the constitutional reform is the most important for Ukraine, for the further development of Ukraine is impossible without it. And resistance to these changes is beneficial solely for the enemy.
«Ukraine is weak without reforms. Ukraine has no chance without reforms. Without reforms, we only preserve the weakness of Ukraine and do not modernize the authorities,» Poroshenko said.
As to the report, the President emphasized that «decentralization brings the government closer to people, increases the responsibility of both authorities and people and provides the bigger part of powers to the territorial communities».
«For 24 years there have been only discussions about that and no actions. Government officials tried to keep powers for themselves and obstructed the transfer of powers to people,» Poroshenko said.
Also, the President emphasized that 78% of Ukrainians support the decentralization reform.
«We are obliged to implement this reform via the Parliament,» he said.
