European Commission: date of trilateral gas meeting yet to be set

The European Commission says the date of possible gas talks in Ukraine-U.S.-Russia format is still unknown, UNIAN correspondent in Brussels reports referring to the Commission representative.
«No trilateral gas meeting is currently scheduled,» said the Commission representative.
He added that, "as announced after the last trilateral meeting, the Commission will «put forward ideas to prepare next steps so that consultations with Ukraine and Russia can continue. In this regard, bilateral meetings on Ministerial level with both sides (that is, Commission-Ukraine and Commission-Russia) are currently being foreseen.»
As to the Commission representative, concrete dates for the bilateral meetings are still subject to confirmation by all parties.
The representative also said that the Western Balkan Summit 2015 will take place in Vienna next week on Aug 27 where Maros Sefcovic, Vice President of the European Commission, in charge of Energy Union, will attend as one of the main topics of the Summit tackles «infrastructure and connectivity.»
«The summit will be a possible occasion for the bilateral meeting between Vice President Sefcovic and his Ukrainian counterpart, Energy Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn,» the representative admitted.
«Furthermore, the Commission is in constant bilateral contacts with representatives of the US government as well as the International Financial Institutions (IFIs) such as the World Bank, IMF and EBRD on issues such as financial assistance to Ukraine,» the Commission representative noted.
