Call for higher Belarus-India trade turnover

17.08.2015 19:03 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) — Belarus-India trade turnover can be and should be increased, Belarus Radio says referring to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Belarus Manoj Kumar Bharti report made during the business seminar held to highlight prospects and opportunities of doing business in India. Thus, Manoj Kumar Bharti said: «Belarus-India trade has exceeded US$400 million. However, we have the ability to achieve much higher results.» He also mentioned the interest of the Belarusian private sector, whose representatives actively seek and find partners in India. Ties became particularly strong after India President Pranab Mukherjee visited Belarus in Jun 2015. As to the embassy’s information, representative offices of Belaruskali and BelAZ have been opened in India. Minsk Bearing Plant intends to set up a joint venture. «As far as small business is concerned, only one-time deals are carried out as a rule. These businessmen do not open offices in India,» noted the Ambassador. He said he believes that the situation may change in the future. «Going to India is a challenge by itself. However, staying there on solid terms is profitable,» believes Manoj Kumar Bharti. As far as Indian projects in Belarus are concerned, representatives of pharmaceutical companies are working most actively today.
