President: Ukraine has powerful energy complex

Ukraine has a powerful energy complex that is constantly developing. It was stated by the Ukrainian President at the solemn meeting on the occasion of the Day of Power Engineer of Ukraine and the ceremony of launching the «Storage Pump ¹2» of Dnistrovska pumped storage power plant, President Viktor Yanukovych Press Office reports.
«Enterprises of electricity sphere provide jobs to almost 180 thousand Ukrainians and the cost of produced electricity and heat equals about a quarter of the country’s GDP,» Viktor Yanukovych said.
The President noted that despite economic difficulties related to the world crisis, the country introduced new power generation and supply capacities.
According to Viktor Yanukovych, in 2013, the new power line has been established in Vinnytsia region. It provided an opportunity to maintain stable parameters of electricity in the network due to the use of the full capacity of resources of Dnistrovska pumped storage power plant.
«The launch of the given facility will save the state about 250 million UAH per annum,» the Head State noted.
«Also, the reconstruction and expansion of the power substation „Pivnichna“ of the Central Electric Power System has been completed,» he said.
Viktor Yanukovych emphasized that the large-scale project would become the expansion of capacities of Kakhovka HPP. It would additionally stabilize the functioning of the United Energy System of Ukraine.
«It can be made only due to the reduction of launch and shunting costs of the heating stations, reduction of fuel consumption in the production of electricity, use of hydroelectric capacities for regulation of peak energy loads,» the Head of State emphasized.
The President reminded that a number of important international documents on cooperation in energy sphere had been signed in 2013.
«It is the evidence of recognition of high professionalism of Ukrainian power engineers in the world and understanding of the prospects of development of Ukrainian energy system,» the Head of State said.
